The word Ilmpedia is derived from two different words Ilm and pedia. Ilm is an Arabic word translated as knowledge but modern Arabic word for Science. The word pedia comes from the word encyclopedia which comes from the Koine Greek ἐγκύκλιος παιδεία, transliterated enkyklios paideia, meaning "general education" paideia (παιδεία), meaning "education, rearing of a child"; it was reduced to a single word due to an error by copyists of Latin manuscripts.
